Development of a Noninvasive Skin Evaluation Method for Lower Limb Lymphedema https://www.liebertpub.com/doi/10.1089/lrb.2018.0089 I'm particularly interested in this paper because it is on using non-invasive measure of tissue change to determine the presence and progression of lymphoedema. It is available open access. The article is about the performance of the devices but there are informative sections that describe lymphoedema progression which will be of interest to any lymphologist. I recommend reading the Introduction Figure 4 to get a sense of how the skin and tissues change in terms of compressibility and elasticity. The box plots show you the range for each stage and the unaffected legs have a high variability among individuals, but as lymphoedema sets in the tissues become stiffer and less elastic and the variability between individuals decreases. Figure 5 gives nice histological images of the changes in tissue composition and architecture in mid-stage lymphoedema. The conclusion gives a good interpretation of these tissue changes. Nothing controversial here but a good paper for understanding the nature of the skin and tissue changes induced by lymphoedema.
